The Master of Science in Computational Finance and Risk Management (MS-CFRM) addresses the demand in the financial services profession for advanced quantitative and computational finance skills, and next generation risk management competencies. For students and current professionals with strong mathematical and quantitative skills, the MS-CFRM program provides exciting new opportunities for advancement in a new or current career pathway in the numerous fields in finance.
This degree is offered in both a full-time and a flexible part-time schedule, as well as in two cohorts for students in the classroom and online. Nearly all courses are offered simultaneously to both audiences.
There is the course catalog which includes detail course offerings by quarter. The program is ranked 16th by QuantNet (locally in the U.S.) and 18th on Risk.net (globally). The University of Washington runs on the quarter system, with three terms per academic year.
The design allows for a typical full-time student to complete the program in four quarters (allowing for a summer internship while a student). The first two quarters you enroll for three classes, and the third is four. The final quarter typically would have a single class, which is offered in a hybrid format, allowing for students to take it virtually should they start in a role outside of Seattle.
That being said, there's no hard requirement to enroll for all of the classes each quarter (so long as you are not an international student necessitating full-time status). You can enroll part-time and progress through the program at your own pace otherwise.
